Paris , Biofuels Options Seminar at IEA/OECD

Upon the invitation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director, Mersie Ejigu, President & CEO participated in the Bbiofuels Options Seminar, Paris 20-21 June 2005. He spoke on "Biofuels Options: The Way Ahead." In his presentation, Mersie argued that:

• Investment in biofuels is a development imperative
  
  
• Multi pronged, multi level (policy and program/project as well as national and local) and continuous intervention is needed. Policy development and increased investment in biomass are priority steps to be taken immediately.
  
  
• The biofuels strategy needs to be nationally owned, integrated into a national sustainable energy and development strategy and be based on existing processes and capacities.
